Intercultural Development Continuum Change Framework
I had a GREAT call with Kai Stowers just now – I received truly insightful and helpful feedback and observations. This is a highlight for me personally.
— CEO of a museum
Kai truly understands diversity
and inclusion and can teach it in a
way that is inclusive, not antagonistic
or shaming (even to people with
unacknowledged privilege).
— CEO of a consulting firm

Kai relies on the Intercultural Development Continuum (IDC) to develop a common language and framework to engage in DEI work. This change framework is developmental and serves to de-weaponize the conversation around DEI. Not only does it guide individuals and organizations on their development, but it also provides employees a new framework to help them navigate working relationships with:

  • Internal and external partners

  • People from different demographics, including gender, race, age, socioeconomic status, and physical and mental abilities

  • People from different cultural backgrounds

The Intercultural Development Inventory is a well-validated assessment of intercultural competence used to build our capacity to achieve diversity, equity, and inclusion goals and outcomes. Much like other skills (math, language), we can grow our intercultural competence through learning, reflection, and practice.

Kai is skilled at delivering the IDI sensitively and compassionately so that individuals and teams understand the unique strengths of their orientation. He then partners with each client and team to empower them to achieve the equitable outcomes they so deeply desire.
